Job Description and Goal
This manager-level role focuses on government incentives (both tax and monetary) for R&D. The job manages and delivers the incentives portfolio with the partner. This needs starting and finishing any project (including client and engagement assessment, getting the deliverable ready for partner review, interacting with clients and billing and collecting)
Principal Responsibilities
The person should have at least four to five years of experience in:
- Creating Drafts of Incentive-Related Technical Applications
- Developing, assessing, and offering feedback on reports tracking the status of technical research and development.
- Determining the amount of the incentive that can be claimed by calculating and assessing R&D costs
- Creating Legislation-Related Tax Alerts and Other Technical Writing
- Remarks on Potential Legislative Changes
- Increasing revenue through finding new customers and enhancing current services for existing clients.
- Responsible for the direction and management of the incentives portfolio, including but not limited to the timely billing and collection of funds, the mitigation of all internal risk, and the meeting of all customer and government deadlines.
- Talking at conferences, both internal and external, and serving as KPMG’s representative on a number of industry groups’ advisory boards
- Communication between the many branches of government (such as the Department of Science and Innovation and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition)

Skills and traits that are needed for the job
- Strong technical understanding and hands-on expertise with the various incentives, as well as how to put together a successful application
- Excellent understanding and experience in doing correct computations and putting together detailed working papers.
- In all internal and external dealings, maintain a professional demeanor.
- Comfortable with technical discussions with all levels of staff in order to gather as much technical detail as feasible for the objectives of putting together successful applications
Minimum qualifications and work experience needed to be considered for the job:
- 4–5 years of experience with incentives, with a focus on the tax incentives for research and development.
- Engineering degree preferable
