The Role
We need a Medical Affairs Manager for SSA (Sub-Sahara & Africa) to oversee all elements of present and future Cardiometabolic, Cardiovascular, and other products as needed, including post-marketing studies and budgets. Responsible for brand team medical activities and services. MSL coaching and product management.
This job reports to the Medical Director for LINEA & SSA (Levant, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Sudan) & Sub-Saharan Africa.
Duties and obligations
- Medical insight and local market dynamic knowledge are needed to develop regional strategic direction.
- Co-lead the translation of regional therapeutic area strategic direction into local therapy area/brand integrated customer strategies (tactical plans)
- Drive Therapeutic Area medical strategies (Tactical Plan) with a focus on global/regional scientific objectives and corporate considerations.
- Lead and monitor customer-facing medical affairs (MSLs and Medical Advisors) plans and interactions, focusing on scientific communication plan management.
- Analyze medical KPIs to ensure actionable information from completed medical tactical strategies that feed into strategy and future plans.
- External and internal stakeholders’ primary source of medical knowledge and scientific updates in OPU therapeutic domains
- Lead scientific collaboration with selected healthcare professionals (external experts) in the therapy field with stated scientific aims and demands.
- Cross-functional brand team shares competitor intelligence
- Internal training and upkeep of OPU’s scientific expertise
- Attracts, develops, and retains medical affairs talent
- As OPU healthcare compliance manager, release/approve all stakeholder engagements.

Requirements
- MD or PhD preferred (specialist in the respective Therapeutic Area)
- Cardiometabolic, CVD, Diabetes
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company, ideally in the appropriate therapeutic areas.
- 2 years’ experience managing people
- Oral and written English-fluent business
