Job Purpose :

The Associate is an intermediate role within the HMC/FI SSA Corporate Bank cluster, with coverage for 7 Hub Managed Countries in Southern Africa and the Oceanic Islands (SAIO) (HMC). This position’s overarching goal is to serve as a trusted advisor to our clients by supervising, strategizing, and driving the particular Southern Africa and Oceanic Islands (SAIO) portfolio.

Job Background/context :

The primary focus of the HMC/work FI’s is to serve as the lead relationship manager for clients in the banking, non-banking, government, and public sectors. It does not favor any particular product over another, but it does place special emphasis on transaction banking products including Cash, Trade, and Security Services; foreign exchange; and capital raising via the DCM and CMO product families. Both public and private corporations will be eligible for coverage under the HMCs, but only under certain circumstances.

This job is one of the important revenue contributors to the HMC/FI Business in SAIO.

Key Responsibilities :

• Accountability for SAIO Region’s assigned HMC/FI portfolio’s P&L and business management (2-3 countries & progressively others)
• Serve as the HMC/FI SAIO Unit Head’s go-to expert on market developments, company strategies, and opportunities.
• Assisting the HMC/FI SAIO Unit Head and filling in for them as necessary in their absence.
• Clients served include bank CEOs, international division heads, central bank governors, and high-ranking government officials from the Ministry of Finance and other departments.
• Driving the different product agendas for this client base while collaborating with key product partners in TTS/Markets/DCM/CMO/IB and others as needed.

Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications :

• Graduate degree or higher (preferred) Education in fields such as Economics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, and Accounting (other areas of specialization will be considered on a case-by-case basis).
• A command of English is required, and a willingness to learn other languages is a plus (Portuguese, is beneficial).
• Prior job experience in Business, Risk, Banking, or TTS in Citi or another financial institution is highly desirable. Required Work Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 Years
• Competence in financial analysis and responsible use of credit are assets.
• Ability to comprehend Corporate Banking Procedures
